THE TEACHERS
Lou Hoyt and Judi Rice have each taught yoga for more than 25 years. They share a depth of understanding and love of the Iyengar method. Since 2001 they have jointly taught teacher trainings, as well as their well-loved annual winter retreats in Mexico. Their combined experience renders an approach that is simultaneously insightful, challenging and light-hearted. This weekend of teacher training will emphasize developing the skills that make an effective yoga teacher. They will share the Essence of Good Teaching.
THE STUDENTS
This workshop is for Iyengar Yoga students and teachers who are interested in developing their teaching skills and deepening their personal practice. Judi and Lou will share the Essence of Good Teaching to prepare Iyengar Yoga teachers for assessment at the Teacher in Training and Introductory levels.
MATERIAL TO BE COVERED
The workshop will cover asana (poses) from the Teacher-in-Training and Introductory syllabi in the current IYNAUS Certification Manual and from Geeta S. and B.K.S. Iyengar’s Yoga in Action for Beginners – A Preliminary Course. Additional material will be drawn from Basic Guidelines for Teachers of Yoga. The sequences and instruction have been designed to deepen your understanding of the basic actions of the poses in order to enhance your own practice, prepare you to teach and hone your teaching skills.
LOCATION
Louisville Yoga Center is at 9100 Ash Avenue,
in Pewee Valley, Kentucky.
More detailed directions will be sent upon registration.
SCHEDULE
The schedule will be:
Friday, March 28: 5:00 - 8:00 p.m.
Saturday, March 29: 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon.
Sunday, March 30: 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
COST
IYASE members: $250
Non-members: $325
If you would like to join IYASE, please enclose an additional $50 with your $250 workshop fee for a one-year membership. You will save $25 and gain all the benefits of membership including concurrent membership in IYNAUS (Iyengar Yoga National Association of the United States).

SCHOLARSHIPS
A limited number of partial scholarships are available from IYASE to attend IYASE sponsored events. Generally, the Scholarship Committee will award no more than 50% of your total expenses, including housing, transportation, and workshop fees. In order to be eligible to receive a scholarship, you must meet the following criteria:
- a member of IYASE
- financial need and dedication to the practice of Iyengar yoga – as indicated by the scholarship application.
