Learning the ropes in Iyengar Yoga is known as yoga kurunta, or yoga puppetry.
Join Steve Jacobson for a 2-hour adventure where you will pull, stretch, and suspend your beliefs about the possibilities for your practice. Explore a variety of poses on the ropes and experience why yoga kurunta is an invaluable practice in and of itself.
Steve is a Certified Iyengar Instructor who began practicing Iyengar Yoga over 35 years ago. He has studied frequently at the Iyengar Institute in India with regular visits dating back to 1988. In Part 2 of his rope seminar, you can be sure you will gain a new depth of understanding of your poses and the therapeutic effects the rope work can offer.
Steve emphasizes a physical foundation of strength, flexibility, and alignment as a starting point for studies of the myriad connections among body, breath, and mind. His classes reflect a wry sense of humor and creative use of imagery. A Ph.D. and philosophy teacher at Georgia State University, he naturally brings a Prashantian dynamic to all of his classes.
One year of practice and some familiarity with the use of the ropes required.
