There is really nobody in our modern culture who doesn’t experience some neck and shoulder tension. When it is not addressed it can turn into a chronic problem that causes headaches, jaw tension, and general discomfort. Cynthia Bates will go through a yoga practice to help release current neck and shoulder tension as well as re-pattern the muscles and alignment of the neck and shoulders to avoid future pain.
Cynthia Bates is a seasoned Certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher (CIYT) at the Intermediate Junior II level and Certified Yoga Therapist (C-IAYT). Her goal as a teacher is singular, to inspire transformational experiences that lead to positive life change. For Cynthia, injury, illness and trauma can all be used as a skillful means for spiritual practice. She is a devoted student of Manouso Manos, Victoria Austin, B.K.S. Iyengar, and the Iyengar family, with whom she had the honor of studying with in India in 2010, 2012 and 2014. She furthers her education by assisting Manouso Manos weekly in public classes and participating in specialized yoga therapeutics training. She recently completed the first three year certified Iyengar Yoga Therapeutics program led by Manouso Manos. She is also a student of Tsokyni Rinpoche and Chokyi Nyima Rinpoche and a practitioner of Tibetan Buddhism.
